Gents, I have a Ruger Bisely Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum with a 7.5" barrel.
I have found a gunsmith locally who can shorten the barrel for me, as I've always wanted to shorten it to 6". This means the original front sight will be sweated off, of course.
That being the case, I'd like to replace the front sight with something that would allow me to use inserts of various heights, so I can shoot 3 calibers in the pistol: 44 Russian, 44 Special and 44 Magnum. If I had interchangeable front sights, I could file/shape my inserts to hit point of aim with the three different rounds and change them out at will, without trying to remember various adjustments for the rear sight.
So, does such a sight exist? I see Freedom Arms has a front sight with interchangeable inserts, but obviously it's in stainless steel. Does anyone make something similar in carbon/blued steel?
Thanks, DeWayne

I highly recommend a Freedom Arms Interchangeable Base from Fermin. Blades can be built in many configurations and any height.

Many years ago, my first real handgun was a S&W M29 with the 10 5/8" barrel and 4 position adjustable front sight. I wonder if you could find a take-off front sight like that and use it on the Ruger? The front sight had 4 little set screws to adjust the height of the 4 settings.

Another option is the "Aggie01" base by forum member Aggie01. They take FA blades as well. He hasn't advertised them in a while, but may still have some on hand.

Your gunsmith should be able to use the Ruger ramp by milling out a slot and drilling and tapping for new blases. Not a big job.
