I AM INTERESTED IN INVESTING IN A 3" ENGRAVED PYTHON (THE NEW 2020 VERSION) AND THERE ARE SEVERAL VERSIONS AVAILABLE ON GUN BROKER, ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
ALSO, I KNOW WILSON SELLS AN UPGRADED REAR SIGHT BUT WHAT ABOUT GRIPS? ARE AFTERMARKET GRIP CHOICES FOR THE 2020's READILY AVAILABLE?

AFTER GOING OVER THE 70 ought "ENGRAVED 3" PYTHON" LISTINGS ON GUN BROKER, AND READING A RELEVANT THREAD ON THE COLT FORUM, THIS IS WHAT I "think" I KNOW:
1. SOME, AND MAYBE ALL, OF THE COLT ENRGAVING OFFERINGS (ON GUN BROKER) ARE PROBABLY MACHINE TYPE ENGRAVINGS AND NOT OLD FASHIONED HAND ENGRAVING; and
2. THE HAND ENGRAVING OFFERINGS (ON GUN BROKER) ARE BY 3rd PARTIES, e.g. TYLER GUN WORKS AND ALTAMONT, AND WHILE VERY NICE THEY ARE PRICEY AND MAY NOT INCREASE THE VALUE OF THE FIREARM TO THE SAME EXTENT THAT COMPARABLE GENUINE FACTORY ENGRAVING WOULD.
THE 5" AND 3" NEW SS PYTHONS CALL ME BUT MY 5" MODEL 27-2, WHICH IS A DAMN FINE SHOOTER, AND MY NICKEL 3.5" MODEL 27-2, WITH FITTED SHEEP HORN GRIPS BY ZANE, AND MY 2 3/4" SS SECURITY SIX, WITH AN AWESOME PAIR OF SAMBAR STAG GRIPS, NONE OF WHICH GET CARRIED OR USED MUCH, HAVE THOSE 5" AND 3" 357 niches FILLED. AM THINKING I WILL LET MY PYTHON CRAVING FADE (FOR NOW).

Maybe I'll not be much help for you but... I own and have owned 29's and 629's on and off most of my adult life and not long ago I got an "engraved" Anaconda. I'll say this for the Colt, nothing I've bought from a factory DA/SA chambered in .44 came close to the Anaconda in fit, finish and DA (my main interest in DA/SA revolvers) firing. No, it's not hand engraved but I never expected that for the price. I've also own and have owned many stock 27's and 627's as well as security sixes and they ARE fine guns but comparing them to a new Python or an "engraved" Python? Not fair, Colt takes it. I'm on the Colt forum and here's some comments on the new Python. Maybe after reading it your craving will be stoked again. :-) www.coltforum.com/threads/new-vs-old-python.391979/
