Like many of you, I did not expect to see this. I never met Mark but have enjoyed many of his articles, and books over the years.
A true inspiration indeed. Rest In Peace Mr. Hampton.

Voted on last night at the HHCF meeting: HHC 2025 will be…
Mark Allan Hampton’s Handgun Hunter’s Competition 2025
The HHC logo will be updated to reflect this.
Mark attended all 4 years of HHC and won at least one division a year. He was instrumental in the founding of HHC and the growth that it has had.

I forgot this part earlier. We added this sub category under single shot division.

Mark Hampton is one of my heroes. I consider him to be the most successful handgun hunter of all time. What he accomplished as a hunter is amazing, but considering that he did almost all of his hunting with a handgun is mind-boggling.
One might think with all that he accomplished that he might develop an ego but he was one of the most humble, genuine, down to earth people that I have ever known. For someone like Mark to take the time to correspond via phone, email, or text with a small town fellow from Ellijay, GA is a testament to what kind of person he was. He loved the sport of hunting and conservation and he was always eager to help.
I kept hoping that our paths would cross at one of the various shooting events across the country or perhaps one of the hunting conventions. The fact that i never got to meet Mark in person will be one of my life's regrets.
Rest in peace Mark.
Prayers for the family.

It was a full house at the service for Mark. That does not surprise me without ever meeting him. I have found that when someone stands out and is respected in one field, they often do so in the other aspects of their lives.
