Some years back a G43 40cal cal blew up on me. Was an after market 9mm barrel in place. That barrel split in half full length. Traced back to a nephew that dropped a round onto the concrete patio while loading mags. He picked it up and put it in... At a later date, it blew on me luckily. So Saturday get the bug to take to LGS/gunsmith to see if just the obviously damaged slide can be replaced or what. Well, it went or what, hardened pieces in upper grip frame that the slide runs on damaged too. The tritium sights gotta be near end of useful life, etc.. They did offer me 80 bucks for parts. Pistol was used heavily for classes, courses and comps.. and I'm done with those. A G43X here now. They suggested, slyly, to put money towards a new one. You see where this is going ! I went in there primarily to buy rifle ammo. Told them I'd not be interested in same platform piece, have found the slimline 43X to fit my hand much better, etc.. Somehow a G48 entered the discussion. Am now waiting for a phone call, for when it comes in. In my defense, seems Glock has held their prices pretty well, as they gained competitors in the plastic pistol market .

What model was the one that blew. A 40 would have been a 22/27/35 type of number. The 43 has always been a 9mm. I only ask because I see slides every now and then and could keep an eye open for it.

Yup, wrong model. Was a G23. A 43X was on me today. The 48 to come.

AxeHandle will be proud of me. The gun is not in hand yet and am shopping for a front sight upgrade, mag release, better connector, and considering a Mission First Minimalist holster, etc..

In my opinion, your opinions are worth listening to. Thanks. Call'em the way you see'em.. The kydex the 43X is in will hold either, the Minimalist was actually , more for the 43X. I'll stay pat with whats here and works.

Further reading about the Mission First Minimalist holster, see they recommend, warn you to detach holster before re-holstering. Nah..nevermind. Did cause me to give the current holster a serious look over, and saw the mag release could make it under the edge of the holster. Nope, nope nope. A few minutes with my 4" Voyager and some whittling and know the button cannot get inside.
