475/480 has the Clements version. You might ask him about it.

Don't know for sure the length on the .500JRH but the cartridge Clements chambers is the .500S&W 1.4". Far as I know they are identical. Methinks my first five shot conversion will be a .500 1.4", mostly because of the better selection of commercial cast bullets.

500JRH has a 1.4" case. it can be made by cutting down 500S&W brass and trimming down the rim from .555" to .545" the rim was cut down so it would fit into Freedom Arms model 83. There is also a 500JRH#2 that is the same as Clements 1.4" 500S&W. I like the round.

It sounds like that would have been better than a BELT on a case.

Eh, the belt works fine and never gave me any issues what so ever. Interesting the dia. of the rim on the 500 WE is .544.

I agree, I have shot belted cartridges for years and years with excellent accuracy and power. Whats not to like?

Hello again handgunners, sixgunners and lurkers : kennisondan here glad to be around a bit again.. been a while... I have a 500JRH and I like it a lot. Mine is a straight wall case I use the 500SW reloading set up for it. It will shoot from mild to wild, and mild is nothing to sneeze at. I love to shoot it with a 900fps 420 - 440 grain hard cast .. and got some lighter lead for it and more of the same for when I reload again. It is like shooting a 45 colt with heavy bullets to my mind, at least. No Louisiana deer will keep the slug inside and hogs don't either. I am having to sell a pistol or two and am going to let go my 475 linebaugh FA premeir 6in. instead of the 50JRH cause it is so pleasant to shoot. Jack Huntington made mine for me. My one problem with it : I tend to haggle with my self whether to shoot it or a 44 or 45colt and it wins out most of the time.. not a bad problem to have. dan kennison

I agree, I have shot belted cartridges for years and years with excellent accuracy and power. Whats not to like? Well there's no doubt the belt on the 500WE works and works good in the 83, but so does the 500JRH which is a rimmed cartridge, so why is the belt needed? Belted cases cost more. Can't full length re-size belted cartridges. In short my reasons for not liking the a belted magnum cartridge in a revolver are minor, but again what does that fancy belt get me over a rimmed case?
