.
What have y'all seen happening to asking prices for new and used guns ?
Don't know whether it is the extended economic conditions or maybe just random events.
But four different folks who I had an interest in buying something from over the past year but we had not gotten together on price have called me in the last week with a change of heart in keeping the specific item of interest. Prices had come down substantially in each case.
A couple of local dealers who last year had outstanding sales have told me that sales have dropped quite a bit except for 380 pocket pistols and Taurus Judge 45/410 pistols.
Last year anything with an AR-15 style appearance sold instantly upon arrival in stores. There are racks of them for sale in many stores now.
Back a few years ago when I was looking for 44 Special Freedom Arms Model 97 revolvers, couldn't find one anywhere. Now know of some that have been sitting in store gun cases for months.
Have y'all seen a slowing of the market in your locales ?

Yes, it seems the gun market is a bit soft right now. I have bought a couple at some good prices lately. Prices that were unheard of a year or so ago. I have been watching certain S&W's and Pythons drop in price several hundred dollars of late. Asking prices seem the same, but selling prices seem lower. IMO, the gun market had gotten a little inflated as the real estate market got over inflated. Money is a little tighter now, so prices have adjusted. Just my thoughts, YMMV.

There is a store here that sells mostly black guns AR's Glocks etc. Their internet business has dropped to nothing and the store sales are mostly to the local Law Enforcement over the past few months.
Ammo is showing up on the shelves again and the prices are the next to come back in line.

Yeah, what Hobie said! I'm seeing the same thing. By and large, selling prices are dropping. Funny thing is how many dealers are stuck with black guns they bought during the frenzy last year at wholesale that is above current retail.

I think used prices are falling around here . Last year I looked at a 396 Mountain Lite . They still have it and last week he offerd it at $100 off the marked price . There is also plenty of ammo on the shelves . Except .45LC . That slot is usually still empty .

usually follows a buying frenzy. whether it is generators following Y2k or the big BO inspired gun rush of 2009.

I dunno, I haven't seen much softness on price around here (Northern Va). At the gunshow this weekend, I couldn't even get a price break on a Bearcat and I was paying cash (price wasn't all that low either). I'm mainly into DA S&W Revolvers, those are still climbing. Guns that were $400-$500 last year are $500+ now. The M17 I paid $415 for last year would sell for $600+ now judging by prices I've seen lastely. I can get them a bit cheaper online, but by the time I pay shipping and transfer, I haven't really saved anything.

I tend to think that prices are lower now, at least that is how I priced my FA on classifieds today. when I checked with friends as to what the going rate was I am selling a bit below what I bought for actually. When I inquired about what my JRH would be worth I learned that bfr was offering them as an off the shelf item, now and so my custom from Jack Huntington would not be half of what I paid for it.. I just sold a black gun for a hundred less than I paid for it, and I had gotten a good deal for it.. and threw in some magazines.. for lagniappe (extra).. Maybe some guns are not as expensive but I am thinking that private sales of guns are going for lower than I expected, at least. Just my thoughts and recent experience on it; and what others shared with me. dk

Lagniappe - don't hear that word much up here in the Carolinas. You from Louisiana?
