Another great morning here in Texas and the last day of spring Turkey season. Shot this gobbler with my Freedom Arms M83 in 41 magnum. Hand loaded 210 XTP at about 20 yards. Walking away from me in full strut and made a perfect Texas Heart Shot. Zero meat loss and zero trailing to do. Gobble gobble.   |

It’s looking like it won’t be this spring, but I have been toying around with chasing turkeys with my 454 or 45 colt. I hand load for both and was pondering loads. JFP or hard cast moving slow, or just use some loads I already have made that are full tilt.
That being said, happy with the xtp for Turkey? Would you use it again?

Funny crap in Virginia. In most counties here, one can only hunt turkey with a shotgun, a bow, a black powder rifle (no centerfire rifle or handgun), or a 22LR/M caliber (no weapon designation). Makes lots of sense, huh. This is what a game warden told me.
