+1 on the 1911 conversions. My Nelsons have been extraordinary.

Others have offered mighty fine choices. I own several Browning Buckmarks and Ruger MKI, MK4, and 22/45 weapons. My Father bought several Sig Mosquitos and unfortunately they seem to be trash once worn on quite a bit. Some of Sig's roll pins are not drilled all the way through so once they are set, they are set. No removing them. Those weapons worked fine but after a couple thousand rounds with a suppressor on them failures started to happen. As 22lr. is typically a highly enjoyed cartridge (shot a lot), I would caution you away from that model. But I encourage you to look around for a bit and see what you can find. Might get lucky and find a diamond in the rough. And I do wish you good luck on the hunt.

+1 on the 1911 conversions. My Nelsons have been extraordinary. I have two - On a 1911 A1 38 super lower with open sights: . . This is on a Ruger CMD (alum frame) lower. Set up for gopher hunting with a C-More STS red dot and Tactical Innovations suppressor. . . Nelson currently offers an option with both open sights and rail on the same unit. All units = last shot slide lock back and dry fire rated. . One of my favorite 22s. Paul

I too have a Nelson on a Kimber Gold blah blah blah. VERY neat piece. I also have an unfired Ceiner conversion, no longer made.

It's very hard to go wrong with a Ruger, especially when it's a Mark I or II.

I hope my daughter will eventually sell me her MkII 45/22 4" Ruger that I gave her years ago. That was a fun little MkII.

Chronograph numbers to compare to velocity on box and a 19 inch 10/22 rifle.

You guys jogged my memory. I'll tell you a really neat and small and VERY accurate little 22LR pistol. The Walther PP if you can find one. I have two PP's from West Germany. One is in 32acp in mint condition and the other is the mentioned 22LR also in very good condition. Come to think of it the both are extremely accurate. I use to shoot walnuts out of my very tall Walnut tree with the 22LR one.

I also went down this journey a few weeks ago. I went to the LGS and laid out all the semi auto 22s, most of which have been mentioned in previous replies. After handling every gun I quickly narrowed it down to the Ruger MK IV 22/45 lite and the FN 502. Since my purpose for the purchase was to use as a trainer on my kids, I leaned towards the FN and so far have been pleased. It’s SAO so you have to cock in before the first shot but that equates to a nice 2lb 14oz trigger pull and overall the gun balances well. I swapped out the factory sights with Trijicon night sights and have been very pleased.

I use a Taurus tx22 in steel challenge. It's a beast after $800+ in parts and tuning.
I also have another box stock one for the suppressor and yard pest. I don't really recommend them stock.
The magazine feeds at a steep angle, so they will jam. The magazine springs suck. Since it's a dual column type magazine, care must be taken to ensure the rounds stagger properly or it will jam every time. It only reliably feeds smooth nose ammo. No knurled or swc type noses.
However my Tandemkross competition beats everything else including my Tandemkross Ruger. It's just a bit more than $500.
