445 SuperMag - Unusual TC Encore Rifle...

Years ago, when TC was shutting down The Fox Ridge Custom Shop, I got a call from a friend there.

They'd located a 24" Encore Rifle Barrel chambered in 445 Super Mag. Origins unknown, possibly left over from a limited run. They used to do that for Midway and others.

Anyways, I was offered the barrel for chump change. I accepted the offer and the barrel was headed my way.

For whatever reason, I unwrapped it and put it on pegboard with the rest of my barrels. There it stayed for years.

Recently, renewed interest made me take it down, scope it and put it on an action.

I've yet to shoot it, but bet it'll be a velocity champ. The extremely strong Encore can easily hold Casull(ish) Pressures.

If anyone else is familiar with these, I'd appreciate any information...

I just got a 445 Super Mag myself but in a 14" pistol.

I've read that 240's are fun and fast, but 300's are where the accuracy is at.

I'm waiting on brass to show up before I can do anything but I have both bullets available and I plan on running them with a healthy dose of h110/w296.

Yeah, I've got a 12" Contender "Hunter" Barrel and a custom revolver built in a DMax Midframe.

But, I'm suspecting this rifle will produce some impressive velocities.
