I was surprised to see that there's a general lack of .480 revolvers on GB today. Nearly gone (1 each as of 4/26) are the .475/.480 BFR's, and Ruger Alaskans that were there before Starline recently ran .480 brass. There are still a few Ruger SBH and SRH in longer barrel lengths as well as a couple of Freedom Arms in .475.
Gone are my hopes of finding a BFR on GB, maybe a custom from MR is in my future.

Wait a couple of years, until all the .480 owners that actually shoot their guns are complaining about Starline not running brass since 2024, and the used guns are back on the market.

I was going to pick up another gun while some of them were reasonable. Now that there is brass out there that ended. Right now Midway and Graf and Sons have 480 brass. Once I get my last 250 from Starline That will put me well over 1100 pieces of brass. Right now is the time to buy brass and then keep looking for a gun.

People always amaze me. They won't buy a gun because there's no brass or ammo available. Then won't buy brass because there's no guns available.
Rarely are either case long lived. Guess I've just always been a "Buy and Hold" type. Without a significant recession, I don't see prices going down.
I've also never seen any of the above with an expiration date...

We're in the minority of shooters with these guns: revolver shooters -> single action shooters -> reloaders
Still no factory ammo on the horizon, so there'll always be someone looking to move a gun they can't buy ammo for just maybe fewer than there were 6 months ago.
I wonder if Buffalo Bore or similar bought a pile of 480 brass out of this last run to offer ammo again.

I had been keeping my eye on a Ruger Alaskan 480 at a local dealer for about a year. He had a good price on it but I just couldn't get myself to plop down the cash. The day 480 Starline brass became available I immediately made the purchase. Yeah, I waited like those previously mentioned but given the grand scheme of uncertainty in our little niche revolver world I didn't want to pull the trigger on a trigger I couldn't pull without a boom. And silly me I hadn't done a whole lot of research into reloading but in my manuals there's plenty of recipes for Speer and XTP bullets which of course are unobtainable now But I had not realized that. Oh well... to the message boards for suggestions. I'm currently waiting on a couple orders of bullets to show up and I'll start reloading and have no doubt this Alaskan 480 will be quite the hand cannon.

That's the good thing about the 480. It can be a cannon or just a bigger 45 Colt. Don't discount 380grs at 800fps.

Double Tap had ammo even during the brass drought; one load - a 370 grain cast at 1200 fps, and only $2 per round! I bought some.

There's half-a-dozen Super Redhawks in .480 on GunsInternational at the moment. Apparently not everyone has heard that brass is available.

Or nobody really wants the srh platform compared to the Bisley. If they would release an srh profiled like the Redhawk (Bowen GP44) with it's better trigger and grip choices, it would outsell all the previous offerings. I'd get at least one each in 357,41,44,45,480, and (if they would offer it) 500sp or jrh. Heck make the special 1.35" and call it the 50 Ruger. I'd buy one or more.

From your lips (or post) to the mover's and shaker's at Ruger. Me I'd like an Alaskan with a 4"-5" bull barrel.

I just paid an invoice to Bowen on Monday for a 5 1/2” blue Redhawk in .480.
Hope it gets here soon!

I am glad I was able to pick up an Alaskan 480 a few weeks ago. I also grabbed 200 cases from Midway, now if my Starline 480 brass willcome in I will be all set.
