I am thinking about loading up a target 41 mag load with 180 gr L DEWC using CFE Pistol. I am having trouble finding a starting load. For the more standard 215 SWC I have used the Hodgdon data of 7.1 - 8.2gr CFE Pistol. My Lyman book does not have anything close. Has anyone found a good starting point for this more unusual 180 gr DEWC 41 mag bullet with CFE Pistol? Or how would you suggest starting to find a good load working off the data for the heavier SWC?
BTW, the dimensions of the 180 DEWC are listed so I compared it with 215 SWC. Essentially, all the manufacture has done is remove the truncated cone on the heavier SWC bullet to produce the lighter DEWC. The crip band is in the same spot too. So the seating depth is the same for both bullets.
Thanks.

If seating depth is the same, then use the same data with the lightened bullet. The velocity will be higher. That powder doesn't require the higher tension for proper burn like slower powders do.

I use 8.5 of CFE Pistol in my 41 with a 180 grain cast bullet. May want to start with 8.0
