The not knowing is why I always try and buy good quality products from well respected makers. So that even if you do wind up with a turd, it’s backed by a good company and fixable. Even if there is a hassle. Buying used there is always the chance that you’re buying someone else’s headache, even buying new it seems, you can get a poor example.
I bought a nice Ruger no1 once that I could not get to shoot consistently, I knew I could sink 300-500 into it and get it to shoot or turn it loose and buy something else. There was nothing wrong with it, and it shot great just here today, there tomorrow and somewhere else the next day. It went down the road, and I bought a nice Merkel K3. It shoots great all day long and everyday to the same spot. I’ve always wanted a Ruger no1 and this one was a SS laminated one. Pretty gun, and I really wanted it to shoot, but rather than modify it more and more in an attempt to get it to shoot. It went down the road.

Boy,, this can open a can of worms for sure.
But in general,, I think most of the serious gun people (like most here) try hard to be good, upfront & honest traders. If we have a problem gun,, we try & fix it, or sell it while passing along all the honest info we can. IF POSSIBLE. If using an online sales place,, you can easily add to a description about the gun. Most of us here will do so. If you are using an auction house,, most of us can & will offer what info we have to the auction house. HOWEVER,,, many auction places do NOT disclose serious details if they are detrimental to a potential sale.
Face to face,, most of us here try hard to be good honest sellers or traders.
But then you have the masses of people.
All kinds of gun traders & FFLs etc who the only thing is MONEY!!!!! Just visit a gun show. Table holders (not FFL's) can be like snake oil salesmen. (And even a few FFL's.) All kinds of stories & such. Many very hard to believe. And even worse are the "parking lot traders" who are so tight that they won't spring for a table or two. Honesty? Not easily found. We all know casual gun traders,, who go to flea markets, gun shows, estate sales, or wherever they can & try hard to get guns CHEAP,, and then look up that gun, and try to make it as top end as they can. I know a guy who's so big,, he rarely gets out of his truck. Yet,, he drives all over,, trading in guns & such. ALWAYS has odds & ends,, thinking it's very valuable, no matter what it is. I saw him a few weeks ago,, and he had a cheap "Saturday Night Special" foreign made,, piece of junk. He claimed a guy offered him $400 for it. I asked him why he didn't sell it. He replied he was scared it was rarer than what he thought. I said he needed to find that guy again & sell the gun. But I also knew he was just lying to me about a guy offering $400 for that piece of junk.
But back to true etiquette in trading guns.
Real gun folks,, who are serious about our beloved pieces,, try hard to be up front & honest if there's a problem, or why we may be selling something. It may be we've aged & can't shoot a "loudenkickinboomer" any more. Or our interests have shifted. We may be in a financial bind & need money. Then if a gun we bought has mechanical issues,, or just won't shoot,, no matter what we try,, we will disclose our issues. Letting the potential buyer know in advance.
Honest people will be honest, and folks out for a profit will always be looking at the money. Your personality will reflect how you trade ANYTHING!

That is a great lil cartridge……a hefty 30-30. In the little “guild gun” I got from Dave Manson, a lol Kipplauf, it lets you know it’s there. Never knew it was made in the K95. But I’m not up on Blaser…..$$$$$$ I got the K1 with the package from the factory Zeiss scope on a road trip to find gun shops. My cohort in crime was a buyer for BassPro fine gun room at one time. Knows his stuff. He is always turning guns. “If you didn’t buy it I was gonna!!!!! Could turn that in a heartbeat!!” Blazer are out of my zip code. Even the K1 I could do because it was a bargain. Would love to find a multi barrel set in a case. K1 or K3………I’ll eat Ramen for 6 months for that one. But……9.3x72R……..unicorns are easier to find.

Don't put this on me.
I've said what I have to say.
If you didn't agree with me, you'd not keep going on about it.

My opinion, both threads should be deleted, this forum is better than this, ALL of us here are better than this

I try to start threads on subjects or my position instead of calling out other members.
It's quite normal for even the most gentlemanly to disagree. But, these post reveal more than the original intent could have...

It’s difficult when you are reading something. You only have your state of mind to interpret what someone has said. I recall posting something many years ago that apparently came out to Sixshot as an insult or such. It was not intended as one, we exchanged a civil discussion and all was resolved. We have become good forum friends since that time. The ability to apologize, or extend an olive branch of peace goes a long way. The folks on this forum are predominantly adults in behavior and decorum and it’s why I enjoy being here and calling some friends
