These are probably the 3rd or 4th set of grips I’ve made over the years and I’ve said this each time…grip makers are worth every nickel they charge and I should probably stick to leather work. Anyway, these started out as ‘natural colored’ micarta. Once they were done I didn’t really like the color so I tried staining them a dark brown. I didn’t like that either so I took acetone in an attempt to remove all the stain and they turned into some brownish/olive swirl. Now they are a cross between butt-ugly and kind-of cool looking. Think I’ll run by Woodcraft today and see if I can find something there to try again. Regardless, these are functional…

Looks like your grip work is just fine. Those look like they fit quite well.
Color? Well, everybody has preferences,, and I'm kinda like you. Ugly & yet quite nice too!

If the grips don’t grab you at first glance, you’ll never be satisfied with them. It doesn’t matter what I think, your eye has to be pleased. Although the workmanship does appear to be top notch, just like your holsters.

RIT fabric dye is well regarded for dyeing micarta/phenolic on bladeforums.

...just in case, soaking them in ammonia, not acetone, can attow you to start again color experiments as from a white sheet of paper_ micarta could behave differently, but with wood, it works_
