harvey, I read a 2019 John Taffin article on re-barreling a Single Six with a 22LR 10/22 barrel. He had the barrel cut to 9.5". It didn't seem to increase the muzzle velocity that much when shooting 22LR compared to my 5.5", but his article said it really increased accuracy.
On the other hand, it looks like a 10-12" barrel 22WMR will give you a nice increase in muzzle velocity. I chrono'd some Hornady Critical Defense 45gr FTX and Hornady 20gr V-Max through my 5.5" and saw 1284 fps and 1604 fps respectively. I bet that extra 5-7" will really help those rounds step out in your gun.
Ever since I read John Taffin's article, I've been considering a similar project although it's kind of a toss up between a 10/22 barreled Single Six or a Bisley BH 45LC/45ACP convertible. Where are you getting the barrel work done?
Nicely done. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project. Pete

I put mine in the Gator when out with the 22 mag cylinder...it does well on Ground hogs and has finished a few yotes...never uses my 22 LR cylinder
