I like Matt's 240SNK (Short Nose Keith). Shoots better from the Redhawk in Cowboy Special brass than it has a right to.

6.0 grains of Universal, roll crimped. Runs about 890 fps, not real speedy but a fun load.

It's rarer than Trail Boss now.

You know what they say: the hunt is half the fun… Always up to the challenge. Haha If nothing else, got Bullseye, Titegroup, 231, VV N-320 / 330 / 340 / 350, Unique, and maybe a bit of Power Pistol. Surely something suitable in that group somewhere… Apologies to OP for the thread drift!

I DO NOT WANT TO DUPLICATE MY "S&W 45 COLT LOAD" WITH A 250gr RNFP BULLET IN A SHORTER 45AR CASE, SO AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT. RON REED MADE SOME 240gr WFN 45AR AMMO FOR ME THAT IS VERY ACCURATE IN A MODEL 25 "1955". I WILL TRY TO POST A PICTURE OF THE LOAD AND A PULLED BULLET. ALSO THINKING OF USING UP A BUNCH OF THE COMMERCIALLY CAST 255gr SWC's I HAVE ON HAND THAT I CURRENTLY HAVE NO 45 COLT LOAD FOR, WHICH MAY BE THE WAY I GO SINCE I ALREADY HAVE PLENTY OF THOSE 255's ON HAND JUST TAKING UP SPACE.

There are loads in the Speer #9 manual for their swaged 250 grain SWC for the 45 AR. I've used these for my cast 255 grain SWC for both my 45 acp and 45 AR loads. I tweated them to compensate for the 5 grain different and slightly harder alloy. Awesome loads. By the way the 45 acp loads with that honking 255 grain load feed, function, and shoot very well.

Yup that would be a great bullet for the 45 both acp and AR.

ABOVE IS A PICTURE OF THE REEDS AMMO AND A PULLED BULLET. HE RATES IT AS +P, PLANNING TO CHRONO IT IN THE MORNING out'a THE PICTURED 6.5" MODEL 25-2 "45 CAL. MODEL 1955" IN 45ACP/45AR. I HAVE PLENTY OF THE REED AMMO TO FEED THIS GUN FOR A WHILE, LOOKING FOR A LOAD TO, PRIMARILY, FEED A RUGER CONVERTIBLE THAT I HAD JRH TWEAK THE 45ACP CYLINDER TO ACCEPT THE 45AR.
