A single dry fire will push the recoil plate forward enough to bind the cartridge rim. A rod down the barrel whacked with a hammer seats it back flush with the frame. While I’m not dry firing this gun, I’d appreciate suggestions for helping prevent this one from finding itself disabled for any reason. Am I just using an adhesive like loc tite here?

I would stake it in. Not on the frame itself but with the dimples on the recoil plate. Two stakes opposite of each other and just enough to keep it from drifting out.

Isn't that piece threaded in? Is that a Post Falls Idaho gun? John told me that the Idaho guns had a problem with the castings being porous. Also they made the recoil plate larger which made the problem worse.

I expect a good lock tite product would fix that up pretty well. Can you clean it VERY well and apply some RED loktite? That's where I would start...
