Agree, they occur all the time. If you want to see one just book a hotel and airfare wherever it’s happening next. It’s not this once in a lifetime event they make it out to be

Loudest ones I’ve ever heard were down in Raymondville Tx, so loud I couldn’t believe it.I've grown up around them for most of my life but these were terribly loud, to the point that when they stopped the silence was deafening. A great way to brush up on your stalking and BB gun shooting abilities.

Soo..we have bear guns, BBQ guns, going to the outhouse guns, etc.. Just what might be appropriate hardware, belt gun-wise ? LOL. A celestial event gun ?

The wife and I were riding back home this weekend from an ADV motorcycle gathering in E. TN. I-75 North seemed to be a mess for no reason on Saturday and Sunday, stop-and-go traffic for miles. I’m in NE OH as well, but we’re pretty far from any major roads.

I have these wasps burrowing under, of all things, my brush-burning pile, which supposedly EAT cicadas.
Come on over and dig yourself up a mating pair. I'm only about two hours west of you, maybe two and a half.
EDIT: I ain't makin' this up either.

Have nightmares about wasps/hornets. I'll not be inviting any over here ! I've bene finding these giant rust colred head/face hornets around. One or two in the house early, summer, like now, and then in the late leave raking, amongst the ground clutter. Solitary things, no nest/hive. Rice loads get applied.

We survived ! Hear rt90 jammed up , and some north/south major rt's too across northern Ohio, and Erie area. Glad I took off an avoided. Enjoyed time with wife, some decent pics taken. Some hitches in the cable/wifi/bluetooth run to hear Pink Floyd, Dark Side of Moon though. Signal glitched out a couple times. Played by cell, from BT speaker in yard. Cable to house, wifi set up. ANYTHING can fail. The birds, numerous here in the river bottom hood, all went silent at back out. The spring peepers cranked up and took their place. 5-10 minutes later, reversed, back to birds. Cool ! No, really, dropped like 15 degrees FAST.

Not a big deal at all here in North and South Carolina.
I witnessed a total solar eclipse in 1970 and thought it was awesome!!!...but I was 13. Everything is awesome when you're 13.
BTW, if there is any question about the intelligence of humans these days....just watch "Mars Attacks".

Sometimes when my mind gets overloaded, b flick cinema chases most thoughts away.

I never understood the appeal of the eclipse. Want to not see the sun? Go out at night.

If you don't, I can't explain it to you". As a former photojournalist, I can tell you that it is a moment that cannot be appreciated via video or still image. And while it's not really my jam, Pink Floyd certainly makes for an entirely appropriate soundtrack.

I was east of the epicenter. But, had 90% Blockage and didn't even need a Stent. Passed on the Cyanide Kool-aid too...
