I got one for you all. For Christmas, I bought my 2 boys each a ruger super wrangler. We finally got around to shooting them today. My older boys shot like a champ, my younger boys.....omg. lol, key holes. Ready for this... Zero rifling, it's a smooth bore...lol. Needless to say it's going back, crazy for me after dozens of ruger handguns/ rifles, but, that's the path new America is going I guess.

You should keep it for snake shot and just buy another wrangler!

If they marketed a smoothbore wrangler I might actually buy one. I rather enjoy myself as it is with my single six shooting wasp with the rat shot off of my front porch.

It would be interesting to see what kind of pattern that smoothbore would hold at various distances. It might be better than you think !

I'm wondering if they entirely skipped rifling, or was there an issue on the rifling machine and the rifling was wiped out. Is the existing bore .212-.218 or .222+?

If you can afford to, keep it. I have a Lone Wolf Paul lock knife that left the factory without being sharpened and I mean completely.

I THINK "affording to keep it" might entail a $200 tribute to Caesar and subjecting oneself to the BATFE checking them out.
I'd be a tad nervous about even having it in my possession without a tax stamp.
That's funny about the knife though.

How many people think the robots from the ATF would stare down the barrel of a wrangler? Why would someone anyway? One Adam twelve, one Adam twelve, reports of a smooth bore wrangler reported at the Starbucks, please proceed with caution.

I wouldn't tell anyone. I cant imagine who would know (without being told) nor who would care. Keep it as one of those collectable "oopses" that get out once in a while. If anyone does or should care, tell them to go talk to the factory. Tell Uncle Sam what they NEED to know. Did the old "Garden Guns" have rifling? I realize they are not a pistol, but many gray areas in the law and it's application including our Mossberg and Remington "shorty shotty shooters". My thoughts. That is all.

All the rationalizations and hypothetical encounters/excuses may sound reasonable on a forum or a discussion at the range or a gun show.
Being "right" or NOT being intentionally guilty is of little consequence compared to the legal bill your lawyer hands you once you've been exonerated.
An "honest mistake" resolved and deemed so in court is not free.
I don't mean to lecture or brow-beat, and I don't like some of the stupid, discriminatory laws either, but in real life, there are a lot of puss-bags out there who would turn someone over for the momentary glory (as they see it). I've been baited at gun shows enough times, and had puss-bags run their mouth about what I have and what I'm doing with it that I'm very cautious.
Oh, believe me, the puss-bag gets a "friendly warning" about running his mouth and leaves the show (on his own accord or with encouragement), but there are way too many people who will cause others harm for the mere fun of it. Even if you ARE within the law, PROVING it is not free. Go ask your lawyer. Forget "innocent until proven guilty," because, in effect, you really DO have to prove you're innocent.
My apologies for sounding "holier than thou." I like people here. I would hate to see anyone get into easily avoidable trouble over something that is a mere novelty.
And,.... if you ARE going to do something like that, don't tell ANYONE, let alone post on an open forum about it. "Scammers" are not the only ones using "'bots" and "AI."
