The several Thousand i have been able to collect for the 500 Max in Hornady is great enough but the couple of thousand of these Hornadys in 475 Maximum are the tough ones to find. I like them alot better because i can recess them mammys in the cylinder unlike the 45/70 that i have to cut down. Length and Rim. Look how much bigget the case head is.

This may be worth looking into, the company Quality Cartridge lists 500 maximum brass in their catalog. I have headstamped .338-378kt brass from them, and it looks like good stuff to me. They are pretty random with their runs I think they only do a run with enough orders. I can’t speak to their 500 max brass quality but if a few folks here were interested ( I would be) maybe we could get them to do a run. They are expensive but as there name states , they are a quality cartridge. I have a few hundred of theres that have been reloaded several times and they still look great. The secret i have found on all Maximum cartridges is to load them with ship anchor weight bullets and enough stomp to get them out the barrell at 1300 + and less than 1400 fps and not mash the primers. 525s at 1350 are just Stupid, and they dont like to stop. It doesnt tax the case or primer and most importantly, your anatomy. Trust me when i say 500s plus at 1500 is downright un pleasant in a ruger frame. The Bfr because of the mass and weight, Not so much, but i feel that if you need a laser beam. USE A LASER BEAM! Hahahaha. Using 680, or 1680 and or 5744 has yeilded me the best so far. I found that H110 and W296 loads in the 1.4 case has worked wonderfully, but add another .200 to the length and it gets downright flakey. When i say flakey, i mean, you get x amount of powder in the case and get a specific Fps, then add a grain and it loses 20 or 30 feet per second. Add another grain on top of that and the dam thing goes back to the same speed it was 2 grains ago. I have a load for the 475 maximum and a 7.5" Barrel for 430 grainers using 5744 that will flat out Rock And Roll Baby. I started collecting these beastly animals many years ago cause i figured sooner or later they would go by the wayside. But surprisingly , they have not. I know ole Lee Can tell you a thing or to about 500 Maxies. R

I picked up a bunch of 475L Max brass from Quality cart a couple years ago, plus some 475 basic, so I don’t need to cut down and deal with 45/70 head size. I like the idea of the case heads being partially recessed to add to cylinder length.
Also checked with quality, and yes, I’m still on their list. In the mean time, I’m cutting down 50AK brass to 1.595. Just for giggles I put some of the 500L Max cartridges in the marlin 1895, in 50 Alaskan, and in the Winchester in 50-110. They cycle in both lever guns flawlessly.
