I RETIRED FROM A 51 YEAR LAW PRACTICE 12/31/23 AND I HAVE BEEN SPENDING TIME MOVING FILES TO NEW COUNSEL AND/OR DISPOSING OF OLD FILES. I WAS "attacking" BOXES AND BOXES OF PERSONAL AND LAW PRACTICE FILES TO BE DISPOSED BY HAND UNTIL A COUSIN GAVE ME THE NAME AND NUMBER OF A SHREDDER. A WEEK OR SO LATER AND TODAY (3/25/24) THE SHREDDER CAME OVER. THEY LOADED THE PAPER FILES IN A BIG TRASH CAN THAT THEN GETS LIFTED INTO THE TRUCK FOR SHREDDING ON THE SPOT. I GOT RID OF 800lbs OF FILES AT A COST OF $128.50, MONEY DARN WELL SPENT. THE EXPERIENCE OF GATHERING STUFF FOR DISPOSAL LED TO SOME INTERESTING FINDS OF STUFF I FORGOT I HAD AND THAT I AM KEEPING/REVIEWING FOR NOW. AFTER THE SHREDDER LEFT I FELT SOMETHING SORT OF A CROSS BETWEEN A GREAT S... AND AN EXORCISM.

That would be great. I remember burning classified files in the army. Sifting ashes to make sure it was all burned

Those services are definitely pretty handy. But funny story, one of my clients ended up with a girl who refused to do her job but she was also a protected class three times over - female, minority and pregnant. He knew he couldn't do a damn thing about her lack of work ethic and wanting to do the basic job that she had. So he disconnected the phone and the internet to the basement and put her down there with 7 years worth of medical charts and a tiny little shredder and told her that was her new job. She walked out at lunch time and never came back.
Congratulations on your retirement!

...I had also bought a medium-sized milling machine, but I had to give it to a friend, a good machinist, btw, because the floor on the second floor was giving way down _ (on the first floor there I keep my '70 ironhead)

800 pounds of bullet testing material?!?! Good riddance,……I’ve got probably 150-200 pounds of worthless paper crap that my mom would hang on to and “file” away. Now that we’re selling her house it can finally be thrown away.
