First pickings of the season. From left, Fairchild #2 Canistel, Rollinia, and (my GF's fave) Makok Sapodilla. This season will bring many hundreds of pounds of lychee, mango, mulberry, carambola, banana, and Annona. The non-edibles are (Amaryllis) looking good too.

I've got a lot of family from Florida and this time of the year I'm jealous of you Florida boys and your gardens. Around here, we barely even have dirt yet. No bugs though.

Here in the Alleghenies we are waiting for the Ramps to pop up. First greens of the year to appear.

Markwell, ya get leeks and fiddleheads too, reasonably sure ? I'm not a gatherer, but order if seen on small town menus. Westline Inn in the far N.W. corner of my favorite hills, ANF.. I do get alittle of all 3 right here on my 3 acres, but not enough to do much with.

Umm, yeah.. this here redneck doesn't know what any of that is. And unfortunately most probably never will. The trees don't produce huge amounts of fruit and do not ship well and all are nothing like you've had from a grocery store. Some cost more than beef per pound as they are only available from collectors or specialty fruit growers. Funny, my Pit/Lab mix picks her own and eats the brown ones which are very much like eating a brown sugar cinnamon pie, the yellow are like a vanilla custard, the green is a mixed flavor of pineapple, lemon meringue, peach, and banana.

Never heard of any of those. Very cool. We grow a family garden every year. Just put up 35 pounds of sour kraut and our greens are just getting ready to harvest. Next we will plant tomato sets, squash, Silver Queen corn, peas, beans and potatoes. The potatoes probably should have already gone in the ground but we are running late with other problems.
