Anyone shoot a 6mm ARC? It kind of intrigues me in a small bolt action. Not looking for a AR platform. Wish someone made it in a mini Mauser action. Howa does make it in a mini action. I just don’t like the set up. Threaded barrel, extended 10 round mag etc.

Why the 6mm arc and not the 6ppc?
And just because is certainly a good reason.

Factory ammo support would be a good reason.

Factory ammo support would be a good reason. Trapr Okay. Understand that. Just been trying to avoid storebought for years. Back when 475&500 was all hand load. I’d have to find my own load anyway

Agree, store bought is not a strong reason for me to avoid buying something, although these days availability for components is. I struggled to find reasonably priced 6.5Grendel a couple of years ago, then realized I could buy 7.62x39 very cheap and one pass through a sizing die and had ready to shoot cases. The first loading fireformed the case to chamber specs, but even that first loading was only a .5 grain below my normal loading.

Why the 6mm arc and not the 6ppc? And just because is certainly a good reason. The 6mm arc is a slightly larger case thus more powder and velocity.

So probably the same could be done for the 6mm ARC

I have some new 7.62x39 for my cast CZ 527 And was going to use it for 6PPC because I couldn’t find any!!! Well ……at $3 each I didn’t want to. Eventually found some at “normal” price. I was surprised……6PPC reigned supreme in the BR community for so long. It’s like finding 35 Remington brass today!!!!

I don't have one yet however I plan to build on on an AR platform for coyotes and wolves (maybe). I like the idea of the round in an AR. It should be a fun project. I don't want it in a bolt gun only because I'd pick other rounds first.

The problem with using 7.62x39 brass to form the 6mm ARC and the 6.5 Grendel for that matter, is you get the dreaded donut at the base of the neck. I was very involved with the 6.5 Grendel when it first appeared. The real first creator of that round was my friend Arne Brennan. So until Alexander Arms has Lapua make them Grendel brass you had to take care of the donut. I would imagine you'd get a larger donut sizing down to 6mm. Another thing most 7.62x39 brass uses a large rifle primer. Grendel brass does not. Believe me that there will be a difference in your load between large and small rifle primers.
