I was toying with the idea of trying to polish my high stainless SBL to a more manageable satin look.
I was reading about some people doing it in some old threads on other sites but never saw the end result.
Most say to use 3M Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine Hand Pad 7448 with good results.
Does anyone on here have any results going this path
Thanks in Advance Dave

I did the Scotch tire pad treatment to a Stainless BH. In a nut shell it was easy to do and the finish product looks a Freedom Arms finish. Try it in a discreet location that you can cover back up if you dont like the end result. Like a section of the mag tube thats covered by the foreend.

Yup, Used grey scotch brite pad. Lighting is a little different, but it does work well. Rub in straight strokes , no circular rubbing.

Maroon pad 7447 is what FA uses on the Premier Grade guns FWIW.
Work slowly.
Be gentle.
Use oil (cheap gun oil works well).
One direction.
Straight where appropriate, and curved where curves are needed (probably less necessary on a long gun than a revolver).
On the FA guns (BFR too) a somewhat worn pad works a bit better than one that's full tooth when trying to blend away blemishes. A little experimentation will be necessary with a full refinish.
I cut my pads to small 1.5-inch x 2-inch rectangles, which allows me to work more daintily. Thought about backer boards (popsicle sticks, paint stirrers, etc.) but haven't needed one... yet.
