Ok, As I mentioned in my original test post about paleroadster's front sight assy,,, I wanted to test them in different conditions.
Yesterday,, it was mostly sunny, but not harshly bright. I moved to a bench out from under the shooting shed,, and the sun was mostly over my left shoulder, and rearward. It made a difference in the light reflection of how the front sights appeared.
I duplicated all the same sight positions identically as I did in the first test.
I did add one additional sight picture test though.
I started with the fiber optic,, and it was very nice, sharp & clear. I expected that.
Then I used the normal ramp blade,, and it was also quite clear & sharp. The serrations helped diffuse the glare, and still allowed a sharp sight picture.
I followed with the rounded blade,, with the flat edge facing the rear sight.
This is where it got a little interesting. TO avoid having a sharp edge,, the transfer from the rounded back to the flat edge,, has a small rounded portion that created a shiny top edge. just a small section, but very noticeable. Using the top of the shiny edge, and a 6:00 hold,, it was pretty good. And since these blades are in the white,, lots of shine to the top edge. But it was noticeable where the curve stopped and the flat started. So, before I turned this sight around,, I decided to try a group, using the lower point, where the shine went away & the flat edge took over. At 25 yds,, this gave me an elevation of my group of about 3" and opened it up a little. I will admit that it was a bit harder to try & hold a 6:00 hold on a 3" diameter dot, and repeat things with part of the sight elevated into the dot. But I did find it would work as a way of attempting a long range shot.
Lastly,, I turned that blade around & used the rounded edge towards the rear sight. Lots of glare & harder to get a crisp sight picture.
Now,, that's how the sights performed as viewed from my aging eyes & such.
But the jewel of this sight assy is how EASY it is to swap a blade,, AND they do stay put. The design really works. Period. The dimensions are very good, no slop in the sight assy anywhere. The screw really locks in the blade,, and the appearance is super clean looking overall.
My evaluation is that if a person has a desire for an interchangeable blade system of a handgun,, this would be a top notch way to go. (No pun intended.) And they look very nice on the gun,, with the scalloped cuts in the base.
