Excuse me if I’m out of the loop, but what happened to trail boss? It seems like the demand is there, but I’ve never seen any. Hodgdon still lists it on their website but it is marked unavailable.

One of the rumors is, in Australia they just aren't making it yet. True? I dunno, seems like it.

That’s a shame, I think I’d use a lot of it if it were available.

That’s a shame, I think I’d use a lot of it if it were available. I like it a lot, and I’ve used a lot in mild 44 special target loads. However, it’s so expensive I’m moving to Tite Group and W231. Unique has gotten really expensive!

Unique has gotten really expensive! Unique is certainly expensive! At my LGS it is $55/lb! Up until relatively recently Unique has been as easy to find as Trailboss. I’d like to see both become more available and in turn less expensive. I have been using W231 quite a bit recently with fantastic accuracy. I bought 2 lbs of titegroup but haven’t used any yet. I have plans for it in my .45 cowboy special brass when it comes in.

TrailBoss is hard to find. I managed to get a 5 lb jug,, and 5 9 oz bottles a while back. And I haven't used the stuff since I stopped SASS!

I saw some for sale at the Asheville gun show. The small containers. (9 oz.) Marked $150.00.
I've considered selling a few of my small containers on an auction site just to see where they go.

That's a shame. I use TB under a Missouri bullet in 480. A frog smackin' load, and no frog too big. Tite Group was fussy getting thru my powder dropper. Better metering fast burners ?

Better metering fast burners ? I like W231 or HP38 for light loads in the 475. Not sure how fast your TrailBoss loads are running. I ran some when I first got my 475. I figured they were chugging along at a measley 650fps or so. I had to quit using them because they always gave me a case of the giggles. Not a good look when you're the skinny kid on a range full of manly men.

My load at 8.2grs TB and CCI350 runs 750-770. Think 44spec with another 100grs of bullet. But I'm using the Missouri 340grs.. As you go heavier in bullet weight, TB runs outta steam, and velos drop off fast. I'm pretty sure I've no airspace and been told TB doesn't benefit from compression. so a full load. The mag primer helps and was also recommended. If TB is going away or getting stupid expensive, a fast burner, less expensive option, to stay near that velo wanted.
