Years ago Speer had downloadable "Data Files" on their website with recipes for a number of handgun cartridges, including some of the more esoteric options (think Linebaugh, Casull, etc.). They've been unavailable for a few years now, but with a quick trip in the Wayback Machine... voila', they're available once again!Link to Old Speer Data FilesAs an aside, there are also a number of old load manuals available via The Wayback Machine too, including Speer, Lyman and Hornady. While a lot of the data is available with a LoadData.com subscription (priceless, if you ask me), the extra instruction and articles in some of those old manuals are an invaluable source of learning that you won't find anywhere else.

I thank you and curse your name sir. Looking at all of those discontinued Gold Dots makes me sad. Great resource though. And how did THIS come about?

Wondered about that myself. I do know that John called it the 475 magnum.

Hopefully, some find this data of use.
For myself, it wasn't so much about Gold Dots/Deep Curls as it was about powder choice. Having a brand new 475L in my hands, I wasn't so sure about stepping on the gas. I used this Speer data as a guide for my loads with Unique and the 400 grain cast slugs I had on hand at the time.
I didn't want to end up with a bullet lodged in the barrel nor a front sight in my forehead. In the end, my wrists were happy, the gun was happy, and the target happy. What's not to like?

Some of that old Speer data is dangerously spicy…
