Now that Veral is out of business, who makes lead slugs for barrels?

Look at bullet style pure lead fishing weights, or a simpler solution might be commercial swaged muzzleloader balls. Cinnabar has an excellent video on slugging a rifle bore on YouTube.

I have found egg sinkers work well as they tend to have a larger hole thru the middle allowing more shrinkage for a snug fit, oiling the barrel with a motor oil helps considerably on the amount of effort needed as well.

Like BBD, I use egg sinkers for slugging barrels.

I got a piece about 4 inches by 4 inches of 1/2 inch cold rolled plate steel I drill different size holes into. I back it up with 1/4 inch plate. Heat it with a oxy - acetalene torch or a propane torch. I put a recovered jacketed bullet in a pair of cheap throw away pliers and heat it with a torch till the lead pours out. Let cool and there is your slug. Different holes drilled in the same plate. I only use one or at most two to get a slug measurement so it doesn't need to be complicated.

Trapr Yeah, I’ve got an assortment of egg sinkers for the job. The bore sized slugs were nice….

Just make sure you buy LEAD egg sinkers. I've seen some steel ones out there.

Not seen steel but have seen brass. 101,….the lead in jacketed bullets many times is not pure lead, which is much softer than the antimonied lead of jacketed bullets.

Get someone to cast you a few bullets from stick on wheel weights or pure lead. Unsized before slugging and they work fine.
