I have 5 articulated arm lamps in my shop and benches and it seems as if they're always just a few inches away from what I'm trying to see. Add to that their bench clamps stick down beyond the bottom of the shelf or bench obstructing access to what's behind and below the clamp. Moving the clamp is a pain so I decided to investigate bench mount linear bearings to hold the shaft of the lamps. Eureka! They worked great, and for the about the cost of a redundant lamp bench clamp array, I can mount a bearing anywhere I need light and move the lamp where I need it. Now to order several more for the rest of the spots I need light. PS, they come in as high carbon steel, I super blued it and coated the outside with rust preventative oil.
