That’s nice, but encroaching on NULA money.
I messed up my Mod 7 build. Stainless floor plate, HS stock, Leica Amplus scope, and a thin Remage barrel not realizing the nut adds a chunk of weight makes for a trim but relatively heavy fast twist 25 CM.

That little thing looks real similar to my little Model 700 7mm-08. One off fiberglass stock, Pac-Nor match SS barrel with recut and trued threads, fully blueprinted action with double sleeved bolt, Jewel trigger and skeletonized bolt handle. I converted it to single shot so no bottom metal but the little thing is light as a wand but hits like a Louisville slugger. I h ad a buddy borrow it to take to one of Darrel Hollands long range shooting schools with two of his LEO sniper buddies and it held right with the bigger guns he said.

Have you seen NULA prices lately? Now that Wilson owns them what about the quality/finished product? Hell, I couldn't ever get one to shoot to my satisfaction and I've owned several nice ones...

Have to watch, most Nula are crazy expensive now but occasionally one in good shape will go in the low two thousands. Not usually on Gunbroker though 😅. My NULA RANT: I’ve only ever shot one, I bought from a guy in Canada and had it rebarreled to 280ai in a fast twist (I think 1:8 I’d have to look back). Right at the end of Melvin’s involvement this latest time. Only did a 10 round ladder with Barnes 145lrx. Loaded some at the high node and double checked. Grouped fantastically with a leupold 3.5-15 vx5hd. Went with it, about 3030 (climbed to 3050 with break in) fps with no sign of pressure. It was always sub moa using a spartan bipod and a rear bag from a bench when I was being careful. I think of it in terms of its three shot groups which often average under half an inch and sometimes well under BUT I have never done big groups with it and I know the best groups stand out. I don’t think I have shot a group over 1 moa once I got the load dialed (when I was set to get serious). Last range day with the old scope I tweaked it at 450 yards and the three three shot groups were from 1.6-1.8”. It’s made a NULA lover out of me and I hope that the next one I buy doesn’t cure me! I do recognize that I got really lucky, and also that I haven’t really wrung it out over long shot series to truly see what it does. And that is bench shooting. I grabbed a set of control’s rings and their lowest bases and put a leupold bc 2.5-8 so I think my days of half moa shooting might be over with it for good! It does point like a shotgun now. So far it’s accounted for three antlerless elk and two does, from 100-300 yards and nothing has gone further than 50 yards. I’d kill for a Nula .284!

I was the same. Sold both 280AI ans 260s. I still have my 22lr rifles from NULA, other than a crappy mag system, they shoot great! John Gallagher and I discussed them long ago and he didn’t like that the actions were so small. I didn’t understand it at the time but I finally got it down the road after handling quite a few of them. Now, we have full size actions just as light as a NuLA action. We can put them in full size stocks and with the right barrels, we are within 1/2 a pound or less of a NULA and have a full size gun that is easier to shoot. These are a couple I did in 308 and 7-08. They weighed 6.15 and 6.5 pound prior to optics. Not bad for a full size hunting rifle. Both shot 1/4” groups first load down the tube. I tried three different ones that day in the 7-08, all shot 1/4 or less. I never got that with my NULAs. The downside…..cost as usual. Top shelf parts are just expensive even at dealer cost which is usually not much less than retail.

Your photos shows that there seems to not be much loyalty in ring selection, and I am guilty. The ones on the bottom look like Valdadas.

The bottom, I just took that scope off the shelf to test the rifle. Those look like Badgers. I’ll have to look, it’s on a shelf again 🤣 The Nf rings are nice and really light if you’re working on keeping things light. Badger and a heavy 34mm scope is not the answer 🤣🤣🤣

Have had the Model SEVEN stainless/synthetic in .308 for a number of years... .75 moa with factory Federal 150s right out of the box. Has a 2.5-8 Leuplold VX-3 and is a do anything rifle in any weather rifle. Have thought about putting one of the new Stocky's Carbon stocks on but they are a bit of money... stockysstocks.com/new-stockys-nextgen-ultra-carbon-hunter-composite-accublock-stocks-remington-model-seven/About 18 years ago one of my young hunting partners was looking for his first hunting rifle and I suggested that one to him...he has killed quite a few deer with it since all with one shot each... Hopefully one day the "new" Remington will bring back the Model SEVEN...till then the ones that come up for sale are quite expensive... Bob

It reminds me of my favorite rifle! 35-40 yrs ago I put a Brown Precision stock on a REM 77 LH 270 win. Cut the barrel 19” and turned down the taper. Made a great light deer killer. After about 6000 rds the barrel was toast. My Gumsmith took it and trued the action and rebarreled it to a 280Rem! Still kills like a bolt of lightning and is light to carry.

I have a Brown Precision 250 Savage built on a REM 600 action. It’s very similar to the ad gun. It was built pre model 7 existence. It’s a beautifully light easy handling rifle. I also have a Melvin built (2021) NULA in 6.5PRC. Neither are threaded but I wish they were, but those 2 guns cover a lot of situations. Both shoot great.

That 280 Remington is a great cartridge. There was a great cartridge that precented it by a bunch of years and that is the 7x64 Brenneke, which the 280 is a very close copy of. Now my little light deer rifle is the older action SAKO 7mm-08 Mannlicher Carbine. With sling and scope it barely makes 7 pounds. Hell of a cartridge too. I have a mini Burris 3x9x32 on it, great scope and wish they still made it. The rifle is accurate too!

Only m7 I ever owned was a 350mag. Very effective on game but hard on the shoulder.
