If you zoom on on the left side of the gun it appears the caliber marking says 45LC, id think that was long colt of course.
Now even zoomed in it isnt 100% clear so I might be wrong, its happened before if you can believe that...

And if you've met this guy you'd probably agree he's a character. youtu.be/XIEHaOkChq4?si=TN__TpUVIJ-AVqb3

I would love to have a 45 ACP lever action! Especially one that I could load heavy semi wadcutter loads.

Ed Harris had John Taylor set the barrel back on a Marlin 94 and rechamber it to 45 ACP.
He also had John do a 45 ACP single-shot on an old H&R frame as well.
Most recently, Ed has shifted to a 9mm single-shot/Beretta 92 combo, which makes a lot of sense these days too.
We see a lot of attention toward "PCCs" in 9mm, 40 and 45 ACP in semi-autos, but they can be incredibly useful and functional in lever and single-shots.
Not MY bag, but I cannot deny the practicality. I'm still stuck on the RIMMED pistol cartridges - the 357 Mag in particular, but I can certainly respect and appreciate the "nine", the "forty" and the 45 ACP in this role.

Years ago I had a fake kind of a Thompson that shot 45 acp out of a 16 inch barrel. No crono proof but I swear it had a LOWER FPS than out of a 1911 5" barrel. At 100 yards it had the trajectory of a rainbow and probably dropped a solid 5 feet. actually pretty worthless past about 45 yards. but I can certainly respect and appreciate the "nine", the "forty" and the 45 ACP in this role. Don't forget 10mm. It was made to be a PCC.

Well, that wasn't very inclusive of me, now was it?
If we let the 10mm in, then we'd have to allow the 380, 25 and 32 ACPs as well. You know,... a lever in 32 ACP would actually be cool.
No idea what was going on with your 16" barrel, but Ed's carbine was getting more than pistol velocities - hovering near the upper edge of sub-sonic.
The short auto-pistol cases won't see the dramatic velocity increase as seen in the 357, 41 and 44 Mags, but I bet the 10mm would see more of a boost in the longer barrel.

I've long wanted a 45acp lever action trapper, either a Marlin or a 92 action. It would be a handy carbine, for sure

I believe you will also see the Spanish El Tigre's in .45ACP from time to time as well. At 100 yards it had the trajectory of a rainbow and probably dropped a solid 5 feet. actually pretty worthless past about 45 yards. I had a .45 Grease Gun mag AR that I used to shoot 200 yard steel with without too much fuss. Thought it was consistently inconsistent at that range. You'd be on or darn close for a few, then ten feet to the right for one or two, then back on for a few, then ten feet to the right again. Always assumed it was the bullets I was using at the time. I shot it in a multi gun match once where they failed to be specific about what was and wasn't a rifle. The 100 yard targets were easy. Sold it because AT THE TIME I thought I had a lot of money in it for how often I used it. Now, that same amount of money wouldn't even phase me. (Sigh)

I had no idea that those '92's existed but have heard of the occasional conversion myself. I'm a big fan of the '92 although for the ACP chambering I believe that I'd opt for the Marlin 94. (You listening Ruger?)

The strangest 45 ACP rifle I ever saw was a Mauser, 98, very heavy, straight, no taper barrel. Set up as a single shot. The shop that had it said it belonged to a guy who had been experimenting with it as a cast bullet rifle. The shop owner was selling the guy’s estate of guns and it was one of them.

Was a company that sold conversion kits for these at one time, took 1911 magazines. Found it. www.troupsystems.com/product/mauser-45-acp-military-barrel/
