FA 475 mold question

Pretty easy to take up powder coating. Casting too, then you will never run low on bullets again.

Thanks for the info Randy! 400 Gr. Hornady XTP, I have 4 boxes of factory loads. They are going to Africa with me in Aug. 325 Hornady XTP, Starline case, CCI lpm primers, 28.0 gr H-110. 400gr. Hawk, ,035 Jacket, FP. Do NOT use .025 Jacket HP, ok in 480 Ruger, but not 475 Linebaugh. Use 400gr XTP data with Hawk bullets.

I was looking at the Accurate mold catalog and they have several options with short noses designed for the FA .475

I ran this bullet (large round HP pins, mine weight 335 grains) in 480 cases in a BFR 475 linebaugh. Last season this combination took 2 deer. I keep it very mild and load enough IMR-4227 to get it to 1050fps.

Killed 2 PA whitetails with it. One at about 35-40 yards and the second at what was ranged at 104 yards. Both shots broadside.

Results in both were the same. Bullet exited and left a large exit. Both deer showed significant reaction to the impact. Both went about 30-40 yards. Both left plenty of blood to follow.

I do plan to get this bullet closer to 1200-1250 fps this summer to see how the bullet and alloy performs with another 150-200 fps initial velocity.

I am a big fan of the xxx-640 bullet from MP molds. Have it in .359, .454, .477 .... And will probably add one in .412.

The RCBS SWC is tool long. I'm using the Mihec MP 476-640 which drops at 390-5 with my alloy with the large HP Pins. I also have a Lee 475-325 WFNGC which also works.
