Hey guys, I have a Freedom Arms 475 linebaugh headed my way (my first FA). What bullet molds are you guys using? I've read about the need to use a bullet with a shorter nose. I've ordered molds from NOE and Accurate so far. Also, I'd be interested in buying an LBT or any high quality 475 molds.

I have two MP 475 molds, with all the pins, so I can create a few different types ( hp, solid, penta) in each bullet weight. My FA 475 loves the heavies.

Excellent molds! I have a few MP's. The molds I've ordered are on the "lighter" side. Looks like he's sold out right now

My 475 loves the MP 477-640. It drops a HP at 385 grains.

www.mp-molds.com/product/mp-477-640-light-2-cavity-hollow-point-mold-multi-choice/This is light version and the standard version is 405ish in a solid and 485ish with the big hollowpoint nose. They have sort of become the gold standard for that caliber. When the original mold was designed Zeus was the driving force and we measured my FA to get the optimum nose length on the shorter crimp groove and added a second deeper crimp groove for some of the longer custom cylinders out there. Personally I have run a 375gr LFBPB bullet fro LBT for 15+ years and between that and the MP mold all the bases I ned covered with the 475 are well covered. I have cast a bullet from my 425gr LBT mold in years and years. The light MP would be great for deer and more “fun” shooting (you will enjoy the 475 more if you don’t hit rod them all the time) and luckily it is available right now, something 475 molds can be tricky with, it’s not a terribly popular caliber so no one really stocks molds in that caliber. Good luck and let us know what you find.

With the light bullet, load it like a 480 Ruger, it will still be way overkill for any deer

It sure isn’t a high end mold but the 2 Lee molds I cast from are equal in accuracy to my MP mold. I think nose length is about .375 on the Lee. It’s a 400 gr solid flat point.

16.5 grains of HS-6 with the 335-340 cast makes a pleasant load to shoot all day, and would still take most N American game.

Sure wish that 477-640 Lite was available PC'd , commercially. Sigh.
