Our shelves are full of Ruger Redhawks and Super Redhawks. Stuff like 22 Hornet, 357, 44, 454, and 480. Personally picked up 44, 454, 480 SRH Alaskans, two 22 Hornets, and a 7 1/2 inch 480 SRH in the last year or so myself.

I think Bradshaw said something like “a revolver is a symphony of variables”. I’m sure I mis-quoted but you get the idea.
I’ve had what was seemingly the most “garage band” revolvers shoot like a house-afire and others that were the most marvelously composed be just a real bitch.
I really do think OP should give the gun a try. Ruger will take it back used…
BTW, Lee will make a custom push-through size die for cast bullets for no extra charge and the last one I ordered was here in a week.

Inconsequential increments, is a term a gun builder friend uses to describe the pursuit of perfection.

Check with Reeder about a new cylinder. My 475L and 500L Redhawks by him are great. Just be sure he leaves off the engraving! Reeder says that he only offers extra cylinders with a complete build. Sounds to me like you can't just send him your gun and ask for a new cylinder unless you go whole hog for one of his packages.

Sure looks to me like you haven't mentioned the chamber-to- bore alignment, but I'm not real sure how you'd measure it either... Also looks like you have something to work with. I don't see an issue with your cylinder, how does it shoot? My groove diameter is .431 and the cylinder throats are .432.... isn't that enough to say the alignment is off ? What else do you need to know if the alignment is off ?

Most people would likely think of "alignment" as concentric. You are just measuring size which has nothing to do with alignment. Good alignment would be the center-lines of the bore and the chamber being concentric to each other.

A .432 throat and .431 groove is a good match. But I have not seen a .431 Redhawk barrel before. How are you measuring it? What brand of tool are you using?
I ask about the tools used to measure because they are not all made the same. Just as not all people have the same touch with the instrument.
To measure cylinder to bore alignment, you will need to use a range rod

To measure cylinder to bore alignment, you will need to use a range rod I slugged with fishing weights. Didn't need much force, a 4 ounce ball peen and wooden dowel.

A range rod that conforms to the rifling lands, and strikes the cylinder face, instead of entering the chamber exit hole, tells you there is misalignment, but not how much. David Bradshaw

So a dial indicator through the barrel indicating the cylinder lock up with the forcing cone ?

So far I only shot jacketed from my Redhawk, no cast bullets. I noticed on my Taurus the cylinder stop is buggered up and shaves my casts. The Redhawk stop has a taper on the right side of the stop but isn't buggered up like my Taurus.

Shoot it with cast before messing with anything.
I've owned my current 44 Redhawk since around '95 and have never bothered to measure the throats. Granted there may be some outliers, but I figure that Ruger has it down with regard to 44 dimensions (unlike their 45's). There's a target on the wall in the garage with a 6 shot one-ragged-hole group (rested, 25 yards) fired from mine with 300 grain LBT's over H110. I can't ask for much more than that. I've also got one of the Flattop 44 Specials with .433 throats that shoots better than I do.
If it aint broke...

44mag...where are you getting your information... During the pandemic Ruger cut production of their steel guns because the demand for plastic was so high... If you look over on GunBroker there are 1200+ brand new just built Redhawks in several different calibers up for sale.....whoever gave you that information is over a year out of date...
As to their quality going down hill...I have purchased at least 10 brand new or used of recent manufacture DA and SA Rugers over the last three years and have not seen any diminished quality... I had a 5.5" stainless Redhawk in .41 Magnum 15 years ago that I sold...replaced it a few years ago with one of the limited edition 4.2" models...one of the best Rugers I have ever owned.
You really need to do some better checking...Bob
