Lee has a great article on the history of the Chimney Rock guns. I had a stainless 44 mag several years ago. I think Lee was the one to describe the action as “hydraulic” and that is an apt description in a GOOD way!!! I never knew they were there back when I was visiting relatives at Lake Lure or I would have dropped by. I was too broke then to buy anything though.....

If somebody wanted to have one, that'd be the one to have.

Beautiful Laredo. Some people liked the two-tone guns, others didn't. The Seville/El Dorado line had a fair number of SS/Blued models, starting with the Tombstone Commemorative in 1979 and the World Fast Draw Association guns in 1981. Forrest and Russell made some out of Chimney Rock, but the numbers are low. I have a .45 Colt Chimney Rock like this one. However the cylinder is unfluted. Looks like Bowen did the fluting and beveling. Should bring over $2K in that condition. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Forum member majorKAP used to post impressive two-tone examples. He has not posted in 10 years. Note the Gunbroker seller ID, similar geographic location as well. Here's my top row, filled with Sevilles and Eldorados. Boxed versions are stashed elsewhere.

It's been seen on this site before, but here's mine again anyway: I am alive and well. But, I know I won't be so forever. I'm selling some guns now, while I can still have input regarding the disposition of them. Nice chance for a guy to obtain a really nice miniature Chimney Rock assortment if he takes them all.

I admired it sufficiently that I had in addition saved a copy to my computer in case the online version ever disappeared. You have very good taste and it is nice to hear from you today!

Kap I had a conversation with you about that gun with the beautiful grips on it many years ago. I replaced that alloy frame and wood grips with one of steel and stag. I have the former tucked safely away. I can't recall who fitted them, but I'll look it up and report it. American Custom Gunmakers Guild member, Kathy Forster did the checkering. Those are available, for transfer, to anyone with a pretty little lightweight project in mind.

Didn’t Mossberg market these guns as well? I remember the frames didn’t have the screw holes drilled all the way through.
They used to be pretty cheap on the used gun market. Then again so were NM Blackhawks. Not anymore.

I notice that one guy is bidding on three guns. He has a history of three F ratings as a non-paying bidder, out of a total of 17 transactions.
Not quite sure what to make of it just yet.
