It wasn’t an arrow. That is a steel dowel rod showing a .357” bullets path.

Wow,, that brings back memories.
Kudos on getting a whistlepig with a bow & arrow.
I was 14 and at BSA summer camp. I personally owned a 45 lb re-curve bow,, and shot it all the time. I had started hunting deer with a bow at age 12. Well, at summer camp,, the 20# to 30# bows were too light for me. One of the counselors had his personal re-curve,, and it was a 45# bow. Once I had proved myself very proficient with one,, I got to use the heavier bow. Well, not too far behind where the camp archery range was at,, was a steep bank. Down that bank, was a groundhog hole. And a couple of the counselors had half-heartedly been trying to shoot the hog with a bow. I told them I could do it. They didn't think I could. Well, It was the very first groundhog I'd ever killed. But I nailed him to the old stump/log just outside his hole. It took a lot of patience waiting on him to come out,,, but I did it. I've never tried to kill another one with a bow since.
