Agree however, Starline's backorder "list" constitutes those that have paid in advance. I trust Starline 30-60-90 days out. 1-2-3 years? I don't know about that.

I also don't understand the no backorders either. Just from the read on this site alone they could get rid of 10,000 not to speak of others willing to purchase 480 Ruger brass elsewhere. If you do get to make a run give me call I'll give ya a hand maybe we could tool up and make a run of 401 power mag while were there.

Have backordered brass from them in the past but they don't bill my CC until they are about to ship...or has that changed?

Also mistakenly put .327 on the list...I see it has been moved to Backorder status...

They can only hold your credit card info for a couple of months. If it's going to be longer than that, they have to delete it.

So if it's not up for backorders, you can figure on it's at least three months before they will open it to backorders on things that may be 6 months to any planned production in my experience with them.

We hit them with the number 42,000 (480). They looked it over and coouldn't break scheduling for 42,000. They at least agreed to see how many we could comp up with. Hornady had formerly announced they were stopping 480 components and only sell ammo. I hit them up too. They agreed to review it again in a few months. Both companies cited enormous backorders as the problem. Starlne did say they were making headway.

They could solve the problem by instead of paying up front on a back order and refunding the buyer should it not get into production make a back order 25% non-refundable. That way the orders will pile up.

But, I guess there's some arcane law that says they can't do it.

The only group buys I've been involved with (not Starline) whether brass or bullets each guy bought 5-10K each to bring a run closer to 500K/1 million. True, components were cheaper on a unit basis a few years back but the average guy wasn't driving a $75K pickup either. I don't know how many people made up that potential Starline 480 buy but I'd be curious if it was 14x3K, 21x2K, 42x1K - mainly to see how many buyers there really are connected with these forums. Some guys would lead you to believe there are thousands of guys waiting in line for 480 brass. More lately I see guys whine for years over a brass shortage and when there's finally some availability they buy 250.

When ddixie did the original .41 Special order, he had to pay for 55 or 65k pieces of brass and the new headstamp die...
