I had a friend who owned a Springfield Armory 1911 w/ a 5" bbl in 45 Super that was compensated. He liked to shoot it at our IPSC matches (they were very informal matches), I loved that gun but hated when I was the R.O. for him, that thing was loud! Ken did some successful hunting with his pistol.

There weren't that many built. I hunted for 2 years to find this one. With this slide and a 22 lbs. spring it is very soft to shoot. My current build is getting a comp. Of ourse I run comps on the 460 Rowland so I know how loud they can be. I hunt with them. The work great.

One of my 45 Supers. Very accurate gun. That pistol pictured, is that a Lone Wolf slide on it? I have a long slide Glock in 10mm and my slide is a Lone Wolf one with one of their barrels and it looks much like yours.

They sold them but they were different than the current Lone Wolf slides. These were a limited production item that was built by someone else. The nickname for them was the "Heavy". They were built for some kind of compititon gun. I finally found this one from a gun shop in Kentucky. They were running stuff on ebay. I called them. They said they had it on a display of custom parts. If I remember correctly they said approximately 150 of these were built. Apparently I wasn't the only one looking for one. I ended up paying more than a whole new Glock gun for this one. I found another one on GB and it went for over 700.00. If you pick up the Lone Wolf and pick this one up the weight difference is very noticable. I really like the way the gun feels with the weight forward. This slide is about 20 years old.

Yes I love the feel of it and with the polymer Glock frame it takes the bite right out of a 10mm. Also my Iver Johnson Eagle XL longslide 1911 is very pleasant to shoot too. The Lone Wolf slide and barrel out shoots it though. I wish Iver would have put a ramped barrel in them, but I've had no problems with it. Very well made pistol. Thanks for the info.

Now I am curious. Do you know how old your slide is? Does it feel substantially heavier than a G40 Slide?I am wondering if they did the same thing with the 10mm. I have never found any information on heavy 10mm slides but there is so little info on the 45 Slides I can see that being a possibility.

I'm having a hard time remembering. My wife passed a good few years ago and I'm trying to place whether she was around when I go it. Let me just say that it's definitely not more then 10 years old. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I had a couple of the old LW solid top long slides when they were available many years ago in 10mm and 45. Once the g40 came out I sold my 10mm solid top setup and went with the factory MOS optic setup. I built a 38 casull setup with the long slide 45 solid top and I was hoping for Glock to release a g40 style long slide MOS setup with a 45 breach face to run the casull on but Glock doesn't seem to want to deliver that option so I did my own. I bought another g40 and used diamond files to open up the 10mm breach to 45 width and run the 38 casull setup with a MOS sight setup now. I sold the old 45 slide for about double what I paid which helped cover the cost of the g40.
My regular g40 runs 10mm, 40, 9x25, 357 sig and 9mm barrels
My modified g40 is solely the 38 casull setup since the barrel runs a threaded cone-style comp for tighter lockup
My g21 is my 45 super and 400 cor-bon setup (both threaded barrels with compensators loaded to 460 levels)
They are all fun to toy around with and surprisingly accurate for a plastic fantastic pistol.

For some reason Springfield ported the V16 .45 super, and all of those holes made no sense to me when trying to max out a cartridges performance. Anyway I've only loaded mine with .45 ACP's on the hot side and it's a lot of fun to shoot but it is a noisy bugger and other shooters say the blast is spectacular :-)

Have been shooting .45 Super for a number of years from mostly 1911s and occasionally a revolver. Just purchased a Kimber Stainless Target Longslide a couple of weeks ago and got to shoot last week.
Loads are all in Starline Super brass, 8.2 grains of Longshot powder and CCI LP Primer... Lyman/Keith 452423 250+- grains Lasercast (Magma mold) 250 SWC BB Berry's Plated 250 FP Haven't chronoed this exact load but from previous sessions with the same bullets from 8.0 to 9.5 grains, should be in the 1100 fps area. The 9.5 with the Lyman bullet ran 1178 fps from a 5"...probably a little much.
The Lyman and Berry's loads showed normal primer indications. For whatever reason the Lasercast had distortion in the firing pin strikes...maybe something to do with the bullet hardness or bevel-base design?

Ruger NM Blackhawk... Also fired 6 rounds a year ago from a S&W 625-7 PC...
Just got a 625-6 5" that I'll be trying maybe next week.
Loaded up the rest of the 250 box of Berry's bullets this afternoon and now working on the Lyman/Keith...
