Coons have scent glands that need removed when skinning and the fat all cut out. Not good.

A woodsworker once told me about how he had tried to break in his new White corked boots (~$500/pair) by pouring into them the grease he had rendered from a raccoon he had just shot. He let it sit in there all night so that it would be good and penetrated. The next day, he wore them for the first time and they stretched all out of shape ~~~> yielding more on every side-hill step. So, he got one way-bad day's use out of the pair . . . had to toss them. So much for raccoon fat! Zeek
