We did some gar hunting at a local pit. I like to use a 44 Mag or 500 Linebaugh with large meplat bullets. My son Tucker likes the way his AR busts them up and uses a 45 with RNFP bullets for backup. We shoot alot of Gar, Bufflo, and Carp. They are hard to get out of the water but we can get a few of the smaller ones for pic's. It's not uncommon to get a Gar 5 or 6 feet long and 100+ pounds. The Bufflo and Carp will break 40 pounds now and then.

It's not much different than bow fishing. Just a bigger splash. I have heard of gar balls before but I looked all over several specimens and found not one ball. I would think they make excellent hog bait.

Coyotes like the mreal good, especially if you let them sit in the bed of the truck for a few days and get real stinky.

Don't laugh but Mary asked in a very demanding tone," What do you plan to do with that raccoon meat in the freezer? " I knew she wanted it to be taken out since it was taking up space.
I cooked it for 18 hours in a crock pot with a lot of seasonings especially sage. After a change of water half way through and then setting on low with onion powder, garlic powder and some oregano it was done.
She tried a peice and commented that it tasted like corned beef.
