There is a 3” 629 deluxe at my LGS. It looks right handy.

A friend that I shoot muzzleloaders with has a Magnaport 3 inch roundbutt conversion. He let me shoot it, and was it ever smooth. I expected it to be a handful, but it really wasn't. He also let me shoot his featherweight 357 J frame. No thanks, they're violent, I went back to the 44

Was a dealer when Lew Horton came out with the 24 Combat Special and immediately bought one. Had G. William Davis make one of his Patrol Model Holsters for it and carried it the rest of the time I was with Dallas PD. The following year they came out with the 624 stainless, then guns in .41 and .44 Magnum, which were Stocking Dealer Specials, not LH guns.
The combination of the shorter cylinder, slim barrel and round butt gave the 24/624 a different and better balance than the Magnum guns. Have owned five of the 657s two of which were Mag-Na-Ported...
That said, I much prefer the 4" tapered barrel/round butt Mountain Gun series...

I really like 3" N-Frames too. I only have one in .41 Magnum. -Lee www.singleactions.com "Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

One of my sons talked me out of my Lew Horton 3" 44 special & I've been mad ever since then. Anyway, I do have a 3" L frame 44 in the 696 & they are actually hard to tell when you put them next to an N frame. This one is a 4" 625 Mountain Gun in 45 colt that's also cuts for 45 ACP moon clips. Both are fine shooters with excellent triggers. Dick
