Just cool!. I was watching a you tube of a guy comparing barrel lengths with 44 mags. He had a 3-inch model 629. I really like the looks of a 3-inch N frame Smith. Not sure how practical a 3-inch 44 mag is, but who cares. Next gun show I go to I will be looking hard at 3-inch N frames. Caliber is largely irrelevant. But I have 3-inch model 66 now, so a 3-inch 27 would need to be a screaming deal Can't see my packing a heavy gun that does the same thing a light one does. A 625 would be cool, or a 24 blue or steel. Of course, a 29 or 629. Think I will search gun broker and see what's out there. Then I will go see what the check engine light on my jeep is all about and see if it shoots all the cash in my gun safes making the purchase a no go! ...tj

3 inches is a sweet spot for me too.. 625-3 in my chest rig even as I type. Thinking my Performance Center 44 is a 2 1/2.

I bought a 696 as soon as I knew they existed. Not an N frame but in 44 Spl. it makes a cool L frame. I don't remember ever seeing a 3 in. frame.

This one is a 24-6 and almost too blingy to get a decent picture of.

I like 3 inch model most anything. From k frames to x frames. Just bought a Kimber K6S Target 3 inch.

Wow the 24s are so cool. The lighter barrel than a 29 is great. But they go for some pretty big bucks. I think you would likely pay several 100 les for a 29. I would carry sheets in a 3 inch 29. With a hollow point. Rather than a swc. ...tj

Was looking at 696s when I ran across a new run of 629 3" on GB one Sunday morning. Played around pushing up an $875 opening bid closing in 6 hours and wo I nd up owning it for $890 and the trip.
It has turned out to be a nice piece but took a few front sights to get it dialed in with 200gr 44 Spl. It needs bigger grips for full house 240s. Been looking for some old pachmyer compacts for it.
