Towards the end of deer season we had some warm days. One evening I wasn't seeing any sign of deer but these devils started coming out. I had an old blackhawk .357 that I rescued from the scrap pile that evening. No deer out but a couple of armidillos had a bad day. Horrible pest here and I will shoot every one of them. Ging to try to go out on some warm days and wear them out.

Looks awful nice to be a rescue! Did the bullet open up any on the little critter?

Looks awful nice to be a rescue! Did the bullet open up any on the little critter? It wasn't as little as it looks in the pic. Pretty good sized armidillo. The bullet went end to end and exited. It did appear to have expanded. It was facing me and I head shot it. The bullet exited above one of his back legs. The gun turned out nice and a great shooter.

A worn out old phrase is actually appropriate here, that's bad ass. I understand hunter saying little critter as your photo makes it look like he's as big as a gopher. That would also be assuming he'd never seen an armadillo before but hey, there's a first time for everyone.

Knock em out! I see them often in the woods and in the pastures and think "cute little bugger". Then walking to my truck in the dark, stumble in their rootings and think "you little son....".
Speaking of odd seasons, February is Skunk Season. It is not really a "season" but their mating time so they are out at night more. We ride around in the Jeep all night with red spotlights and shotguns across our laps. Might get 20 to 25 in one night if the hunting is good and the grass is short. With our recent little flood there is going to be a lot pushed up out of the hollers. No trophy pics and we dont pick them up. Buzzards gotta eat same as worms.

You won't believe how much noise they can make running around in a palmetto stand with a few arrows stuck in them.

They're even starting to show up here in NC. Thought I was rid of them when I moved from MS. Guess they followed me.

I should have scooted up closer to take the pic. Lol

I looked at the pic again and it is an optical illusion. It looks like I am standing right over the top of it. That is weird. I guess it was the way I tilted the gun.

Im fairly confident that most everyone knows how BIG an armadillo is and arent questioning the validity of yours' trophy status!😁 Reminds me of a time when a buddy was telling me about the giant coons he was getting on game camera. "How big are they"? "Id say at least 35#!" "Not a chance. Take this trap and catch one and we will see." The next weekend he brings one by. I ask him again how big. "Well, this one is a little smaller but i think at least 30#." I put it on a scale. He simply couldn't believe it was only 18#. Let me tell yall, 18# is a big coon to look at.

I've seen 30 pound coons before, but they were pets. Sure, they exist, but It was more about what he thought vs what is. I see it a lot more with hogs than anything else. On the interweb, They are all 400# and go up from there!😂

LOL the thought of a trophy armidillo is awesome! Someone else will have to take them to get scored. I am going to wage war on them this year. It seems like evey time you kill one two come back in its place.

I've seen 30 pound coons before, but they were pets. A local road contractor had one for a pet and it just sat around and ate all the time. It would devour a bag of cheetos in about 5 seconds. I don't know what it weighed but it was probably close to 30 pounds. It was one big coon.

On the interweb, They are all 400# and go up from there!😂 I keep an electronic scale in my ranch truck and use the winch to raise and weigh them. Each time I ask others to guess weight before weighing the guesses are hilarious. I cannot recall anyone ever guessing under actual weight, and most are 50-100 pounds higher than actual weight. Having taken several really big pigs, and some that were taken prior to having the scale. I do not believe I’ve ever taken a 300#, several 225#-275#, sadly some of the bigger ones were never weighed. I still do not claim to have taken one 300#, but there is always someone who will “know” for a fact that they have. “It broke the scale” “we had to weigh it in pieces” bla bla bla. Trapr
