Personally I think the Winchester Ranger is bigger news. I'll probably actually buy one of those.

Just watched sootch’s review on YouTube..I greatly dislike what I see. The trigger is floppy, even when the hammer is cocked. It has a cross bolt AND a transfer bar safety. When he showed it next to a Henry, they really do look identical. It looks to have Marlinesque internals however. I think if they would have skipped the .44 mag chambering and went straight for the .460 and .500, they would have jumped into a pool nobody else is swimming in. As of right now, they look like just another kid in floaties. Well they better beef up something or use a better steel because that 500 and the 460 are very high pressure. A lot of people are down on the AR myself included as they've put everything on it except the kitchen sink. BUT I'm seeing the same think with the Marlin baseline. Threaded muzzle, sometimes muzzle brake holes in the end of the barrel, picatinny rails, big loop levers (could this be because John Wayne had one on his rifle?). I don't think we need anymore leverguns like these. If they want to do one bring out the Savage 99 or the Winchester 88. Just my opinion.

There use to be a hatred many years ago between Smith and Ruger so I don't think Ruger is making this for Smith. I damn sure know Smith isn't making it.

I googled up the Henry black model, same looking fore end, identical magazine tube, identical frame and frame screw placement, identical ejection ports. There are far many less differences than there are similarities.

On big loop levers… yep, John cowboy cool, but for cowboy action, it slows the rifle down…. I added one from Wild West Guns ( of Alaska ) , on my 45-70… my reasoning is if gloves are needed for cold weather hunting, here in Minnesota, you can’t get you fingers into a regular loop…. & I have big hands…. I don’t look at that as tactical, I look at it as practical, for cold weather hunting
My cowboy levers often have leather lace wrapped around the bottom of the loop, making it smaller… which is proven to speed up firing

I thought they did it cause it was cool.
