I'm going to try mine out on South Carolina whitetails this coming season.
Funny thing, SC doesn't allow BP handguns for deer during our 10 day BP season but there are no firearms restrictions during our 3+ months long gun season.

not a legal weapon for deer in Minnesota... I even bought a 50 caliber muzzleloading pistol, & I think via the wording, that gun is also not legal here...

Yep. I have a mould that casts a 220gr flat point for the Old Army. My second longest shot on a deer was that bullet over Unique in my 1911, at 1050fps. 66 paces through the chest of about a 140lb doe.
Second deer, longest shot ever on deer with a handgun, same bullet, 35grs 3f in my Old Army at 75-80 paces, 120ish lb doe. Tight behind the left shoulder, exited at the base of the neck on the right.
I also have a 185gr version for the replicas. Big doe with this bullet at 34 paces, 35grs 3f in a Pietta 58 Remington. This one broke some bone, wreaked havoc on everything important in her chest and was caught by the hide.
Bottom line is to use the most effective bullet you can and put it where it needs to go. Real black powder is fine, it gives plenty of speed and accuracy to get the job done. These are basically 38-40 & 44-40 black powder loads, nobody would call them wimps. Go do it and enjoy your time in the fields with your revolver. Report here with pictures.
