My son has a Bruin he uses for following the hounds chasing bears here in the Alleghenies. We load a 200gr hard cast RNFGC at 1260 fps for bears and it does a very good job. The Bruin has held up well and the only thing we did to it was change out the stocks and put on a MS housing with a lanyard loop on it. WE have a few other DWs and they are all very nice 1911s for the money.

I have the Kodiak and love it. I believe the only difference would be that the Kodiak has a bull barrel.

Bruin's have a "Tri-topped" slide and some(?) of them have the tapper at the bottom.

Does the Bruin have the feed ramped barrels? I have an Iver Johnson Eagle Longslide 10mm. Pretty satisfied with it except I wished it had the barrel feed ramp to insure a little more protection for case web blow out. Workmanship on it is really great and it was as tight as a buck's ass stretched over a barrel and after shooting the hell out of it, it's still tight. Now what we're talkinga about, but I have a stainless Glock long slide in 10mm. No flys on it what so ever.

This is an example of a Tri topped slide. It's done to reduce weight in the reciprocating mass..

AFAIK the only 1911 style 10's with the old Colt style ramp less barrel is the Colt Delta and the Iver. Also the Bruin has a steel frame to answer a PM sent me which others may be interested in knowing.
