The flat side is the only type available right now for shipping and I chose to get one due to my upcoming move to South Carolina. They had no dates available on when the other three frames will be available.

They are excellent. Beautifully finished. I still deciding which barrel to put on it.

We have been satisfied with ours son, grandson, and myself. One flat side 3 lynx all early production. They do seem to scratch or mar easy so if you have a tight fore end relieve the ears so they don't mar or ride on the frame. (Like all Contenders not every barrel you have will work on all frames without some tweaking, but it is minor.) I rounded VERY Slightly the back corners of the barrel boss on the barrel I have on mine, so it did not ride the face of the frame so hard. Triggers are pretty darn good right from the start but can be improved depending on what you want.

I'm planning on using my 41 magnum barrel on mine primarily for whitetails next season, then my 10" 22 rimfire barrel when deer season is over.

THIS is the best thing that's happened in our world in some time. Having this action come back in its original form is almost like a dream, but I've had mine in hand for several months now and KNOW it's NOT a dream. Poor Marty is busting his butt living up to his promise after so many delays and kudos to him for that.

I was offered the chance to buy a second one when I got mine - I think I was fairly early on the list. I thought about all those still waiting and passed on the second one for now. I want to see as many people get their hands on one of these as possible. Besides, I didn't NEED another one, but I wanted to be part of this. It tickles me every time I hear of someone else getting theirs and I wish it were faster for those who have not. Once everyone has gotten one, I'll think about getting another one. They really are NICE.

It's already cool enough to be part of this project.  Too many really good things in just the last few years have been supplanted by "new" and "cool."  I want EVERYONE to have one of these as a reminder that there's more to shooting, hand-loading and casting than just keeping up with the "cool kids," the majority.  I suppose SSK could turn their production efforts to AR and 1911 clones, plastic pistols or plastic-stocked bolt-actions in a couple really new chamberings and probably make more money.  I applaud their efforts.

I really, REALLY hope that the SSK50 becomes so popular that they can never keep up making them.

DANG, MAN!  OUT OF STOCK in less than three hours?  Or were they REALLY available when they sent the notification?

I'd be glad to see then offered through other channels, taking it as a good sign that things are up and running and everyone who was on the list originally GOT theirs.

About "keeping one honest:"  Some weeks after I got mine and others were getting theirs, one popped up on a forum for $500.  I got mine for the original $275 and cherish it all the more for that value.  You can buy your way into any level of gratification, but that doesn't mean near as much to me as achieving that gratification at an "affordable" price.

Folks are selling original Contenders for more than SSK is asking for a new SSK50.  I love my originals and I mean no offense to their quality, but I'm not going to lie - the SSK50 is something like a "slightly nicer" version.  I'm glad to be a part of this spectacular WIN for gun-people who appreciate more than the noise they can make with their guns.

Kevshell, have you gotten yours?  Were you on a list?  I honestly feel guilty talking about how I like mine if there's still someone waiting for one.  Looks like gloating, but that's not what it is.

I got the notification via email and promptly bought one this evening. I'm guessing it will be at my dealer by early next week. For the most part I've heard nothing but good things about these frames. The only complaint I've heard is really about some barrels needing some modification or fitting. I've been on the list for a long time and technically I'm still on the list as I bought this one from Midway. I'm just glad I got one on the way.

I'll have to agree Jeff. I like the SSK-50 Frames better than the originals. That being said, I like the G2s better than either.

You guys are nicer than me. I bought a Lynx Frame. When Marty offered me a second one, I sucked up a Flatside like a Hoover Deluxe Upright Model.

They'll eventually get all orders filled.

I think I may have to get one of those flatsides. Except I will have it engraved with my arch nemesis, the groundhog! Paired with a 221fb barrel, it would be a dedicated set.
