I bought a nice Tyler Gun Works overhauled sheriff model a few years ago. I liked it a lot but felt like it was missing something. I took it David Wade Harris who lives about an hour from me. He knocked it out of the park. David is known for his engraving on SAA. Its a stainless gun so didnt have to pay for bluing or nickel which David does beautifully. He showed me an old high power that he had just completed for a south TX sheriff that was off the charts. Im super happy. David was the only apprentice of Wheldon Bledsoe who is famed for cattle brand, only 2nd to his own teacher Cole Agee who is considered to be the original cattle brand engraving artist. Serious lineage of engravers. Davids daughter is continuing the craft. She is doing guns and custom car parts for show cars. He did a few special things for me. When I was a kid we branded my grandparents cattle with a S brand. They were Stevens by name. I showed my wife a bunch of images of Davids work and she really liked one with a longhorn head on the erh and a spur around the front sight. He agreed to do it. And I commissioned it with our 15yr wedding anniversary, so he put a heart behind the hammer with a C and B, for Chance and Bobbie. Neat to have something personal. He hand cuts this stuff with thousands of tiny hammer blows. Its a real art.

The artist has gone beyond adorning an object. He reached in and pulled out the spirit of a single action and spread on the the steel for us to see.

I like it. It's fanciful and has a kind of an Alien Rune vibe!

That thing belongs in a museum!
My wife got me a gun for our 15th wedding anniversary but it didn't look like that! LOL!

I shot this gun a lot before engraving and plan to shoot it much more. I dont keep any guns that are not part of my range rotation. Im thankful to be able to commission the work. I never really thought I would have a hand engraved gun.

Nothing is too pretty to shoot. Congratulations, it is beautiful. Who did the grips? Are they elk or red stag?

I have a hand engraved vaquero sherriff's model that I love and shoot all the time. Yours is in a whole other class, I'm afraid. Gorgeous work.
