I bought a 5.5” 45 cal Blackhawk barrel from Reeder several years ago. The guys that do big bore conversions are your best bet. I bought a new 7.5” take off barrel from a Ruger forum member. I may just stick with the 4 5/8" barrel.

The 4-5/8 works well. Just tailor your loads to it. Powders like Universal, power pistol, longshot, etc perform better than the really slow 4227-type powders for me in the really short barrels.
