I have ingots of ww amounting to 50 lb or so. I usually cast straight ww with great success. I’m trying to make the ww go a little further as a have plenty of pure lead to add. So is a 50 50 mix doable for handgun velocities?

I run 30/70 WW/Pb for HBWC in 38, and 50/50 for 45 ACP with no problems and 80/20 in 475LB @ 1150. 230 ball @ 875+ in 45 ACP no problem with Felix lube.
I think your OK blending up to about 1200 but once accuracy falls off it is time to harden it up. Lino in small amounts hardens better. Ya might want to get some super hard from Roto Metals to blend in also.

I shoot alot of 50/50 hp rounds up to 1200. Over that I water drop it. If you powder coat it's good air-cooled to about 1500.

I've shot 50/50 in 44 Special, at book Special loads, with satisfaction. However, I had an RCBS 45-201-SWC that I used in 45 ACP, a Springfield Milspec, and I got leading with 50/50. Using bullets of WW alloy I got no leading. I sized .452 with everything exactly the same, lube was White Lable 50/50. It baffled me. I have parted ways with both the mould and the gun now, but I still wonder why. Best I recall I was using 4.6 grains of Bullseye.
It was a very accurate bullet and load out of my gun I might add.
