How on Earth can these be offered so cheap and perform so well?!
I bought my first on a sale for 329.99. I expected it to work ok, but a all steel 1911 45 ACP for under 400 dollars? I had my doubts. My oldest son turned 21 and wanted an auto pistol to keep in his truck while he works close to the Mexican border. At first I did not tell him it was for him, I just told him I wanted help breaking in a new 1911.
Expecting trouble I went to the range with 300 rounds of 45 ball ammo and a full armorer's kit. I had it all; aftermarket mags, needle files, gauges, punches, the works. I had already field stripped, degreased and reoiled the weapon before taking it out.
Much to my surprise, the first mag fed, fired and ejected all rounds and locked back on last round fired. I have had Colts that didn't do that well on first mag fired. The slide release lever was still a little stiff, but groups were coming easy for old eyes and fine military style sights. Once I remembered military style handguns are set for a 6 o'clock hold, if I missed a soda can at 25 yards it was most certainly on me. We fired all 300 rounds without a single failure. As a training aid, I loaded mags mixed with live and previously fired cases. I wanted them to stovepipe so I could remind my son to tap / rack or do a controlled mag change. The weapon chambered and dropped the hammer on every empty. Most of my Kimbers wont do that every time. I bet I put 50 empty cases through the weapon and every one fed like a loaded round.
I did give him the weapon for his birthday although I must admit I really didn't want to. I dont think I have EVER had a 1911 that didn't have at least one malfunction in the first 300 rounds. And to feed empty cases from the magazine? Fuggetaboutit. If it didn't happen to me I would still be dubious.
I liked the Tisas so much that when I got another email saying they were 319.99, I ordered three more. I have not had time to clean, lube and test the new ones yet but initial handling tells me these might just perform as well as the first. I mean heck, for 300.00 I can put one in the tackle box. If yall get a chance to grab one of these dont hesitate. I have all I want for now but I see another 319.99 sale I might just pick up another 2 or 3.
